June 2008
On this edition of Focus on Pennsylvania we take a look at the vital role community health centers play in providing care
for low-income and uninsured Pennsylvanians. We also examine other GOP health care reform proposals as well as
the issue of affordability.

May 2008 This month’s program features a special report on how Pennsylvania’s Intermediate Punishment Program is working inside
one state correctional institution. We also have a report on how Senate Republicans are seeking to help volunteer
firefighters and EMS workers.

April 2008 This month’s program features an in-depth
review of the state budget hearings with Senator Gib Armstrong, Chairman of the
Senate Appropriations Committee. We also cover the historic signing of Senate
Bill 1, legislation to strengthen the state’s Open Records Law.

February/March 2008 This month’s program features Senate Republicans’ reaction to
the Governor’s 2008–09 Budget proposal, including an in-depth interview with
Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati. We also take a closer look at alternative
energy research underway in the Commonwealth.

January 2008 At the halfway point of the 2007-08 legislative session,
Focus on Pennsylvania takes a look back at some of the key
legislative accomplishments of Senate Republicans in the
past year, including government reform, energy issues and
holding the line on tax increases.

December 2007 On this month’s program GOP senators evaluate Pennsylvania's
new storm-response plans. We’ll also examine the dilemma of blighted properties
and highlight some extraordinary senate veterans.

November 2007 This program features an interview with
Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, who outlines the fall
agenda for the Senate. Also on the show is closer look at
the Special Session on Energy and an update on the proposed
strengthening of the state’s Open Records law.

September/October 2007 This month program features a behind the
scenes tour of the newly designed Rare Collections Library
in the Forum Building in Harrisburg. The new high tech
library will house the oldest, most fragile books and
newspapers in the Commonwealth including a volume more than
500 years old. Thanks to state of the art environmental and
safety control systems this priceless and irreplaceable
collection will be better protected for future generations.

July/August 2007 This month's program features an interview with President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati discussing
state government reform. We also highlight several members speaking out on
the merits of the Taxpayer Protection Act.

June 2007 This month's show examines college
campus security in the aftermath of the Virginia Tech
massacre. It also salutes Pennsylvania’s fallen heroes
who made the ultimate sacrifice.

May 2007 This month’s show takes a closer look at transportation
issues currently facing the legislature.

March/April 2007 This month's show features reaction
from GOP Senators to the Governor's 2007-08 spending plan,
which includes more than $2.5 billion in new and increased
taxes and significant proposed borrowing.

January/February 2007 This month's show highlights the new Senate Republican
Caucus leadership, its reform agenda, and its five
freshman senators.
