Legislators to Announce Bipartisan Package
Aimed at Preventing Underage Drinking
HARRISBURG -- The
chairs of the Senate Law and Justice Committee and the House Liquor Control
Committee will hold a news conference to announce a major legislative package
aimed at preventing underage drinking on Tuesday, December 13 at 10 a.m. in the
Capitol Media Center.
The majority and minority chairs include Sen. John Rafferty (R-44), Sen. Sean
Logan (D-45), Rep. Ron Raymond (R-162) and Rep. Robert Donatucci (D-185).
The 12 measures contained in the package would make it harder for minors to
obtain alcohol, create education programs to prevent underage drinking, and
create stiffer penalties for violations.
Expected to attend are the bills' sponsors and Rebecca Shaver, state executive
director of MADD.
The committees have held four joint hearings around the state with over 40
testifiers and/or organizations.
